Group Dynamics

What is Group Dynamics ?

‘Group Dynamics’ refers to the study of behaviour of groups of individuals and their interactions. It is concerned with both, the behaviour of the people within the group known as intergroup dynamics and the behaviour of the individual groups with other groups called intragroup dynamics.

The founder of experimental psychology, Wilhelm Wundt, was the one to suggest the existence of group dynamics and study it in detail. He concluded that communities or groups possessed special characteristics that cannot be understood fully by studying each individual from that group.

It is especially significant for the companies and their HR, as it helps them understand and analyze the group behaviour, patterns, etc. This helps in understanding the fundamentals of what makes a team better than the rest as well as aid in applying the same principles to create better teams which will ultimately help the company in achieving success.
