Suspension

What is Suspension?

The term ‘Suspension’ is used to denote the temporary removal of an employee from their current working position. The suspension might be applicable with or without pay and the reason for it could be either that employee’s misbehavior or wrongdoing or it could be due to ongoing investigation about such kind of wrongdoing.

Suspension is generally the first step when there is an incident of gross misconduct by the employee in question. If the misconduct was evident, then they are suspended for the same. On the other hand, if it is not clear, an investigation is undertaken and the employee is suspended during its duration so that they can’t influence the investigation or the evidence in any manner.

A suspension might be changed to dismissal once the company has solid proof that the misconduct indeed did occur. In such cases, the employee would not be eligible for the salary during the duration of the suspension too.
