Transitional Employment

What is Transitional-Employment?

‘Transitional Employment’ refers to the practice of placing employees in temporary positions to prepare them for permanent job placement. It is generally offered to unemployed or underemployed individuals to help get them up to speed with the latest developments in the workspace.

The temporary position in the transitional employment phase would not have all the responsibilities of the permanent position. Similarly, it would not provide all the benefits of the permanent position.

Employers need to make sure that transitional jobs do not interfere with the employee’s mental and physical well-being, especially in cases where the employee is coming back to work after an injury.
