What is Social Media?

 

‘Social Media’ refers to a kind of media in which the media is developed, shared, and consumed by the users themselves. It has gained traction recently due to the accessibility of newer technology and the penetration of the internet.

 

It is mostly centered around some websites which have the most number of users. The most commonly used social media platforms are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc. There are even specialized social media for individuals looking for a common interest. These would have a lesser number of users since it deals with a specific interest.

 

HRs have also started using social media to search and interact with prospective employees as it gives them a vast amount of candidates and as a result, social HR has started gaining momentum recently.
