Transformational Leadership

What is Transformational Leadership ?

‘Transformational Leadership’ refers to a kind of leadership which is centered around helping each and every individual who is following the leader. The leaders implementing this kind of leadership would be enthusiastic, energetic and passionate about their team members.

They use their skills, knowledge and other traits to guide and support their team mates. This might even lead to the team members helping each other succeed which would eventually lead to the overall success of an organization.

The father of transformational leadership, Prof. James Burns, defined it to be happening ‘when one or more persons engage with others in such a way that leaders and followers raise one another to higher levels of motivation and morality’.
